Compatible vehicles for engine?

Asked by GuruWB998 Apr 29, 2018 at 10:25 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet C/K 1500 LS Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 K1500 4wd 3 door pickup early body style with a 5.7 crate
engine that was put in about 60k miles ago. Over the winter, I went into a
ditch backwards on the ice and bent the frame at the rear (the hitch is bent
90 degrees down (trapping the spare)). The body shop has told me that they
can't straighten it, essentially rendering the truck worthless. What year and
model pickups are compatible with this engine?

I think you could go all the way back to 55, maybe even earlier. With modern trucks, think you should probably try to stick to as close to 99 as you can, because of all the electronic and computer stuff. Might be easier to just sell truck as is.
