Remove the "fluid pan" when doing this be careful bc there is no drain plug.. Getting one side loose to drain the fluid to start. Once drained removed the pan and clean the seal off the pan completely.. May require some elbow grease.. Next remove and replace the filter located inside the transmission where the pan attaches. Replace seal and pan.. Make sure bolts are torqued to specs provided by buick. Refill and drive on :-)
What about the fluid in the torck converter? Is there and easy way to get that fluid out and then back in?

It is all done when you refill the transmission. Do you have a leak?

Have you changed it before and how many miles are on the car? Mine is on transmission #2.. Went out around 220,000

Change it every 40,000 from now on as suggested by your manual. It will make it last longer. I have seen a few besides mine that have over 250,000 miles and still run great and silently. Also the torque converter is located between the transmission and the motor.. The "rear main" seal keeps the oil for the converter in place.
In many vehicles nowadays the torque converter has no drain plug and is not drainable. A way around this is take your car to a service garage the has a transmission fluid exchange machine, not a transmission flushing machine. Draining fluid from the pan gets almost half the fluid changed. Note to Dirty_Harry: The "rear main" seal keeps oil in the engine and has nothing to do with the torque converter. The torque converter seal or front pump seal keeps the transmission fluid in place.

Help!! My 2002 Buick LeSabre had a leak and it would drive very slow until speed up or while I was at a stoplight the engine will still be running but when I go to put it in drive it will not move . The mechanic put a new manifold and Cadillac converter on my car and now my car. Move it all. What can I do?
