Shift linkage

When i try to put car in park or drive the
car will not go into gear for a while and
than all of a sudden it goes into gear
once it is in gear it changes gears just
fine i think its is the gear shift linkage is
there any way to adjust it

Being that it just has a shifter cable, I don't think it can be adjusted. check where the cable connects to the trans housing to be sure the bracket isn't loose.
