take the automobile to a local shop and ask a qualified technician to plug in the diagnostics. this should indicate what is wrong with the malfunctioning chimes

This could be as simple as a burned fuse or faulty ignition switch. It's important to know what other systems or lights are not working at the same time you expect the chimes coming on. This will lead you to which fuse to check. Most cars pre-2010 have limited diagnostic capability (scanners only access essential engine controls). Good luck :-)
