How many miles does the Jeep have on it? Have you drained the transmission fluid, flushed it, replaced the filter, and refilled with quality ATF? That would be a good place to start. You should also remove the shift sensor and clean any debris out of it. If you have already done those two then you may want to add some Lucas transmission fix. If it still doesn't improve then you may be looking at a worn gear or clutch pad that will need to be replaced.
