LTI fuel system repair

Asked by Anthony Jan 23, 2014 at 12:12 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Convertible RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The auto garage replaced the distributor cap and rotor in my car's fuel system. Now the car back fires, after the engine has ran for less than ten minutes, it literally sounds like a bunch of loose cogs rambling around under the hood, and does not seem to get any fuel when pressing on the accelerator, and car stops running. Took the car back to shop and the morons working there had the car for a week, and returned it to me in the same condition. Could they have possibly used a L98 engine manual when doing repair job? Car has to go back for repair, not to these morons, but I would still like to have some sort of idea of what could be causing such a problem. The car has always been well maintained and ran smooth as silk until this repair job was performed, and I am so pissed I am seeing red!

Distributer cap and rotor on the oppti spark? I ve never heard of that on a fuel system. Your problem sounds like it is the oppti spark/ LT1's distributer. The hole oppti needs replacing and this is one of those cases when only OEM replacment oppti sparks are recamended. I have had three go bad on me. I like to learn the hard way.
