1997 buick riviera starts perfectly but will not shift into any gear and when you push the accelerator the car will not move. What is the issue>?

I have a 1997 Buick Riviera its in great condition drives good, but it will not shift into gear and will not move when the accelorator is pushed.

First start with solutions that are not costly. Check your fluid level, if its low and or has a burnt smell that's an indication it should be changed or internal parts are broken. Check to determine if it will go in reverse in as much its the strongest gear. If not I am of the opinion the trans is gone. Also defected engine's computer will affect the trans performance and there is a vacuum (canister in design) located on the drivers front side of the trans with a hose connected from the vacuum. Check for a leak and in some cases this canister could be defective. GOOD LUCK SEMPER FI
