2007 rav4: tailgate rattling on uneven surfaces

bought vehicle new and it has never been in an accident. The tailgate began rattling 18 months ago on rough roads. tighten all hinges, guides, spare, lock and striker plate. It sounds like the lock tongue is loose on the striker plate.  Can anyone offer solutions?

just plain weare and tear,you got to rember autos are not built like they use to be.
