Does the 2007 has transmission problems

when was the last time the transmission fluid and filter were changed. According to MB, this the number one reason whenever there is a transmission problem. Most MB's are every 3 yrs or 36k miles. This is far more often than most American cars - but MB is really insistent on it being done.
