Sputter and loss of power at low rpm

Asked by again1 Nov 10, 2014 at 12:25 PM about the 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sputtering engine on uphill drive.
The same at low rpm (under 2000) when pressing the pedal down.
At any time this incident is accompanied by black smoke coming out of exhaust.
New OEM spark plugs installed with no improvement. Diagnostics shows no reported
messages.

sounds like something a little more serious black smoke usually signifies oil got into your cylinders. when you pulled the plugs the first time were they by chance dripping or coated in oil?
