2007 Caliber with Automatic CVT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

- My son was shifting from Park to Drive, but when the gear shifter got
stuck between Reverse and Drive.  He got it into Drive and he stepped on
the gas, the car went in reverse.  It is now (the transmission) stuck in
reverse.  The gear shifter will move when the over-ride switch is pressed,
BUT, it does so freely and without any resistance.  The car won't start as
the transmission is in reverse.  I've been told the Shifter Cable Bushing
could be causing it.  Any insight??  Please??

This is probably an issue for your Dodge dealer. I personally would never own a CVT car. Too many expensive problems.

I actually spoke with the Dodge dealer service tech and he said the bushing may very likely be the cause. I just wondered if there was anyone out here that had come across this issue with their OWN vehicle.
