if your check engine is on it is letting you know something is wrong with car,take to dealer for a scan,no reset.

Agreed, you can have a place like Advance Auto reset it for free, but if the root problem is not fixed it will come back on as soon as you turn the vehicle back on.

My wife's V70 had old codes that were never cleared. Auto Zone got my codes wrote them down and then cleared them. The funny thing is all the codes are for things that have been worked on for the last 2 years. After the codes were cleared, it has been 3 weeks and no CEL. So it was old codes that were never cleared.
