I have the 1990 passat and lately i have had an issue where whenever i take off from a start the does a vicious nose dive like its
about to stall and if i dont push the clutch back in it does, however i slip the clutch a little it wont do i t at all. We just put a new
alternator in and newer plug, we think it could be the coil but unsure i came here for any suggestions.

Does it drive fine when you're at hwy speeds and acts up in city driving? If so then your check engine light might be on as well. I have seen the throttle position sensor give these symptoms. Perhaps you can have a computer hooked up to read the codes. Then post the findings.
well your idea of scanning sounds great but on this particular year the on board diagnostics was an option and the original buyer didnt opt for it so i dont have a spot to plug a computer in let alone a check engine light, but the TPS has given me issues in the past i'll be sure to check it out. Thanks for the tip.
Check the air flow meter and clean the throttle butterfly.
what do you mean by the airflow meter and throttle butterfly ... are talking about in the airbox, the boot that has the big silver plate in it
