should i just add the right type of antifreeze or should i flush my coolant?

my Volkswagen new beetle 2001 coolant light has been on for a few days, at
first it turned on yellow then it turned blue as i was driving to school yesterday
but when I got to school the light turned red so after class i didnt want to drive
it anymore... the coolant was low so i walked to the nearest store which was
food 4 less and they had one type of 50/50 antifreeze it said for any makes
and models type of cars. so i bought it when i put it the color was green of the
antifreeze....i drove it home the light turned off but as soon as i got home the
red light turned on again Thank God I was home so i turned it off waired just a
bit and took the top of the coolant off and all that antifreeze bursted all out
......i went to autozone and got the right typoe of antifreeze for my VW with the
pink top specially for my car ....but i dont know if to just added or if i need to
flush my coolant?

it has never overheated only that day when i put that green antifreeze, and it happened righgt wn i got home but i also noticed one of the hoses connected from the engine to somewhere behind where the battery side is on, it had came off it wasnt connected when that happened.... i dont know if that had anything to do with it.... but my car was working fine before the red coolant light came on

i only got the red light once at school thats why i bought that antifreeze before driving it ,,,, and the light turned off but right when i got home it turned on but it wasnt red the light turns on blue ,,,,what does a blue light mean? and then again thats when i noticed the hose was off when it was spewing everywhere so probably air did get in ....but i have a blue light on.... i think your right about bleeding it ,,,it sounds and feels right ,,,,,is it the same as flushing it or is a different procedure?
