My 2000 volkswagen super beetle front seat slides forward and backward uncontrollably how do I fix it?

Just purchase VW beetle at auction. Did not know front seat does not lock into
place. How do I repair it?

Just have to take the seat out and look at the mechanism to see if there is anything that can be done to fix it. Otherwise you'll have to track down another seat mount.
