No spark to any plug

Asked by Michael Apr 03, 2017 at 07:31 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My tahoe recently had a lot of work done. After the
work it ran for 3 days now its not getting spark to
any cylinder. Parts recently replaced include:
Fuel pump, fuel filter, flex plate, injection spider,
plugs and wires, various gaskets from intake
manifold on up and from rear main to transfer
case. New crank pos censor new o2 censor. Why
did it stop getting spark all together? Dist. Cap and
rotor need replacing but should still get some
spark...none at all. Is it the coil pack or ecm? I need
my vehicle to care for my disabled child. Please
help

Does this have the 5.7L engine? You could loose spark threw the rotor if it is burnt threw. Check for spark from the coil. If there is no spark from the coil then that and the ignition control module would need to be tested at an auto parts store.

Unfortunatly i dont know how to check for spark at the coil by myself. Is there a way to do so?

Well, you take the coil wire off from the distributor cap, leave it connected to the coil, have someone turn the engine over while you are watching to see if there is a spark. The end of the coil wire would need to be close to ground, the intake manifold is a ground, about no more than 1/8". But do not hold on to the wire as you will get a 50,000 volt shock! if the coil is good. You just lay it down somehow or use a insulated tool of some sort if you need to hold it.
