Radiator Fans?

Asked by Sgt_Smoker Oct 05, 2008 at 10:26 PM about the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 05 Jetta 2.5 has two electric fans behind the radiator. One I believe is part of the AC system(as it only runs when AC on). The other I assume is the main Temp control fan for the Radiator.

My problem is that my main fan is not turning at all, and the AC fan is very noisey. Where might I find either new motors or a whole new assembly with both fans?

I put a code reader on the Jetta and got this. "PO480" from an OBDII reader "Malfunction exists in the control circuit for cooling fan 1" "cooling fan relay defective" Where is this located?

its apart of the fan, just replace the fan. You'll want to ask on vwvortex which fans swap as a ton do, so its easy to get a used one off ebay or something.

Before you do that check and see if your not under warranty sometimes even though you bought it used the original owner may have bought extended warranty.the dealer has to honor the waranty wether you are the original owner or not extended waranty usually goes up to 6yrs or 60k if your within those parameters call the dealer and ask for service department and ask the vw service writer check your vehicles warranty status using your VIN
