2001 VW Jetta 1.8 Wolfburg

Asked by Arturo6484 Feb 05, 2011 at 10:24 PM about the 2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS Wolfsburg Edition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While passing a car and shifting into 5th gear the car quit accelerating.  The tach
was almost redlining but the car was not responding.  After pulling off the
highway the car would not move. It would go into any gear but the clutch would
not engage.  No noise when depressing the pedal and no grinding when shifting
through the gears.  Wondering if it could be a linkage problem or a clutch slave
cylinder( if it has one)?

1 Answer

most likely a linkage problem.Possibly the transmission, or clutch are starting to go
