99 Mk3 jetta won't go in reverse.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 99 jetta 5 speed has no reverse. Instead goes
into 1st gear. Replaced the shifter linkage
assembly. Had it for about a week but still had to
push down for first and second. Then lost reverse
it's like I never replaced the lever?

Have you checked to see if it’s got enough fluid or replaced the manual transmission fluid?
