1990 Jetta won't start in cold weather

Asked by 3bob3333 Jan 31, 2015 at 01:22 PM about the 1990 Volkswagen Jetta GL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Starts fine when kept in warm garage.  When cold it cranks fine (new battery) and after
30 minutes getting it to start and warms up it runs and drives great like there's nothing
wrong with it. Fuel pressure is good according to the shop I brought it too. They also put
new plugs and wires on it, but they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.

cold starts don't often cause cold starts in the cold to be bad with vw's and audi's It is most likely you have moister built up inside the engine that freezes and clogs the airways or switches. take a picture of under your hood and post it here and also post the full make and modal of the engine so i know which one im trouble shooting on thanks.
