coolant light flashes but temp gage always is at halfway mark or stayes close to 160

Please help! Coolant light starts flashing but
temp is halfway or goes below halfway.
Checked my coolant level which is fine now
let this be noted a couple weeks ago I seen
the light start blinking and there was no
coolant in tank, i filled it to the level between
max and min since that time the coolant
level is fine but this coolant light is freaking
me out and the temperature gage never gets
above normal just below 160 i noticed
sometimes and air vents blow cold air when
heater is on full bast . I don't understand if
the moter was hot wouldn't the heater blow
hot air not cold. Anybody help

fill and bleed out the air and/or replace/repair sending unit..
