Check coolant level

Asked by Deborahjordan Sep 24, 2013 at 08:54 AM about the 2006 BMW X5 3.0i AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Display comes on periodically.  Checked and red indicator is where it should be.  What is
the problem?  Water/coolant is full.  Temperature gauge inside directly in center.

You say red indicator is 'where it should be". You do mean it comes way up when you take the cap off..cold? If indicator float is even with top, it's low on coolant. It should stick way up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwpD6C55cLc
