Engine repair

Asked by Justin Feb 14, 2019 at 11:40 AM about the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I dropped a nut that went on my intake valve, engine got
cranked and shortly after started making clanking noise
like the nut was bouncing around then died. Started it up
again and no more random clinks but a consistant one
plus smoke out exhaust. I have removed all spark plugs
and passenger cylinder head plus used magnet rod in every
crevice i saw and pulled nothing out. My manifold gasket
was shot but i dont see anything else. Any chance the nut
shot down to oil pan or should i keep looking elsewhere

I took out the passenger side already and there is nothing wrong with it that i can see. Im taking off the driver side this morning. If nothing is wrong on that side then whats my next move

When started it the second time i heard a loud ding almost like a tool hitting metal then it started with the consistant knocks and didnt die again but shut it off after i made it home and started disassembling the next day
