1996 Blazer repair cost

I have a 1996 Chevy Blazer 4wd -I have an engine noise that I think is  lifter.  
What is a realistic cost to repair?

Without hearing the noise, we can't really help. If you suspect it is a lifter, then your looking at an engine rebuild. I would install a used engine before that. Maybe it's time to look for another SUV?
