what is the secret of removing a mercedes l500oil cap,, cant get mine to come off

the oil cap on my mercedes 2003 sl500 wont budge,, no one has been able to remove it,,
have any suggestions,,?   The book says to unscrew it, but it will not turn.  Never seen any oil cap
that wasf hard to remove,,, hope i dont have to drill it out
