Everything is fixable. Who pays depends on what was written in your sales contract.

the service lite may come on every 3000 to 4000 miles when time to change oil, filters, ect. if thay change oil themself?, they wont have the tool to reset the lite for next time! most shop can reset the lite if you ask them nice! quick lube, ect.
