How do I reset the distributor or timing on a 2000 chevy s-10 blazer?

you need to set base timing at zero on #1 and then with a good scan tool you have to set the cam retard to 0 degrees +or- 2 degrees while running at around 1200 rpm with engine hot the closer to zero the better it will run and the engine wont surge while at cruise on highway and such to set the cam retard u have to turn distributor while watching scanner
