4 wheeldrive shifter knob

can the shifter knob be removed and if so is there a secret to removing the knob

if its a manual shifter linkage then you can just unscrew it, thats how my 96 was

I think there should be a little disk in the top of the knob that has the shift pattern on it, if so pop it out with a screw driver and the nut will be under there. Thats if it's like my 2001. It should be
