how can i put my 2005 dodge ram into drive if the shifter cable is broken?

The shifter was hard to put into gear and it finally broke.so I just want to put it into drive
so I can drive to shop?

SET THE PARKING BRAKE!!!!!!!! then slide under vehc on driver side. There should be a cable hooked to lever on driver side of trans. Pop cable off, then you should be able to move the lever. Once you have it unhooked start vehc and move the lever it will click as you change gear positions. May be smartest to have someone in vehc w/foot on brakes. Once forward is fond....off ya go
