no egr valve

code light came on ! ? had it read ! says egr
valve ! ordered one ! checked you tube ,
where it is at , and checked my chiltons auto
book , where it is suppose to be it got a plate
bolted on it ! ?  bought the engine - ( factory
ordered - $ 2000.00. -from a engine shop )
they put it on ! runs just fine , even past
smog . why does it not have a egr valve ? I
didnt think it could run without one. ? Can it
?

The engine has been EGR deleted.

My 1998 Dodge ram 2500 turbo Cummins...brand new egr almost $500 ....won't communicate with my truck . So has now sat 2 yrs no tags as it red flags at smog test . Truck runs beautiful and has good emissions . Ugh EGR PROBLEMS !
