2005 dodge hemi 4x4

Asked by Noah May 14, 2015 at 01:35 PM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have the hemi in my truck and it is
overheating. I replaced the t-stat about a
month ago when it was overheating before.
Now it is doing it again. If you are driving
about 30+ mph it doesn't go all the way
over. But if idling the gauge goes to the max.
You can hold the cooling fan still with your
hand but it was like that before when it
overheated. I need some advice before I go
and replace a bunch of parts. It worked fine
for about a month after I replaced the t-stat.
Thanks.

There isn't any drag on the fan when it's off. I'm assuming that the fan clutch is bad. But it just turns slowly when running. It doesn't run at engine speed. It has an electric fan for the condenser.

But like I said it was like this before the motor started over heating.
