Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Thinking of buying a 2004 Ram 1500 Qd. cab. However before I arrived the seller had warmed up & said he cleaned off & topped off radiator. two months prior the H2o pump, radiater, fan & shroud was RR. It only has 69,000 miles and when I test drove for nearly an hour I had not smelled antifreeze, did not overheat & was not blowing white smoke/steam out tail pipe w hand test to exauhst & no soot in pipe & did not overheat. Should I look further for something? Or any other ideas... Oh yeah! had to replace above items after water pump shaft sheared & shot into radiator etc..

Thanks. That's what I was kinda thinking. I'm guessing that means the head gasket is about ready to go?...worse yet a warped head. However If I had a certified mechanic with more knowledge than I, could they determine something at fault. Even though it was warmed up already. I tried showing up early as you say, but apparently it wasn't early enough. Thank you

Whenever I look at a used vehicle I ask the seller not to start it prior to my visit. I like to listen to a cold engine startup as it can be very revealing sometimes.
