Air conditioning

Asked by homestead Aug 13, 2012 at 11:50 AM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My air conditioner works great except when I pull a hill then the air flow seems to decrease but the air is still cold. Once back on level ground the air flow picks up again.

One of your vacuum hose's is either not sealed on its connector, probably from the motor to the connection on the accumulator. Are you pulling a load or it doesn't matter. whether it is loaded or empty. either way. the engine is not creating enough vacuum to run the compress at full speed. which is an indication, of a loose hose. your aware, that with the a/c on it is taking a bit over 60 hp just to run the a/c system.
