i have a 1995 dodge ram pick up i have replaced the ignition switch when i turn the key it goes all the way foward and i cant turn it any farther and it wont turn over

Yes it acts like its missing a spring because when I turn the key it goes to the start position and when you let go of the key it should come back one notch to the run position but it stays in the start position but doesn't start
