Asked by blg119 Nov 09, 2014 at 10:24 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet S-10 LS Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 94 s10 truck. it will go into 4 low but not 4 high. I disconnected the battery and it worked fine for a couple times then back to the same thing. If I try to shift it from two wheel to 4 high nothing happens at all.no lights or anything

I've had a handful of these over the years. I'll bet the electronic 4wd switch on the transfer case is bad. Its a common problem on those vehicles. LMC Truck actually makes a old school choke style pull cable E-switch delete kit that solves this issue permanently. just pull to engage 4wd, and push to disengage. Obviously you can just replace the switch for about 40 bucks and chances are you'll be good to go for another 4-5 years.
