Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Honda CRV will not start sometime well almost all the
time now you can play with the gear shift and turn the key
at the same time and you can get it to start sometimes but
now that won't work and you have to push the car throw it
in park and sometimes that will get it to start the starter is
not bad the battery is not fully charged what could it be.
And it won't start in neutral either

There's a switch/solenoid in the gear select that probably needs to be replaced , it may be easy to get to but may cost close to $200** at the dealer , thing should be tested before you replace them .

Funny thing... You have a car that's worth five grand and you'd rather destroy it than take it to a mechanic. There's a brake-shift solenoid and a neutral safety switch that might be bad or it might just be a faulty brake light switch. Might cost you a few hundred to fix, so you thought you'd see if you could apply your own automotive expertise by throwing the trans into park while moving.
