Trailblazer spins but will not crank

Need to check for spark and fuel. This can be numerous things, need a starting point.

You can take any old spark plug and pull a plug wire and hook it to the plug and lay the end down somewhere on the intake for ground, turn the engine over and look for spark. You can do this without a plug and just put the spark plug end toward a ground, but do not be hanging on to the wire as you check or you will defiantly know your alive if there is spark! You can use insulated pliers to hang on to the wire also.
