evaporative emission system pressure sensor P0451

Asked by Casey Nov 17, 2016 at 12:14 AM about the 2006 Ford F-150 XLT Styleside 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my 2006 has the P0451 code. what would be some
places to look first for the problem? also could it
be something with the filler neck because when I
try to fill it up, it keeps stopping like the tank is full
but it's no. I also live in Alaska so it's been pretty
cold, maybe that could have something to do with
it.

It is more than likely a very small leak on your gas cap, or you filled up your tank while leaving the car running. If I were you I would not spend a dime trying to fix this. as far as the fueling of the tank....sometimes it takes longer depending on the position of the device. Generally these faults are related emissions and just make life impossible when it comes to a 10 year old vehicle.

Ford just changed my sensor, two days later the light came on again! Try using the funnel provided under seat, poke it into the filler 5-10 times, My other vehicle (Flex) did that and poking it stopped the issue! If it's not the sensor they should change the filler!

Guru5CQ52 Did you take it back to ford about the sensor? I have the P0451 and they say they have to order one as mine is in the fuel vent line and is $350! I don't want to replace it if it is something else!
