Me again! I have another issue with my 03 Ford f150. When I go to start it up sometimes I turn over the ignition and nothing happens, then I turn the key back to the original position and after the third or fourth time it will turn over slowly and start but the instruments sweep and sometimes the doorlocks will activate when I turn the key.

Get the battery tested, a dead cell will cause it to act like there is a switch being turned on and off.

That was the first thing I did! They said it tested good! I tend to think it is the starter! When it does this, it is like the battery is low and I can tell as soon as I turn the key because the doorlocks all click and the instrument panel sweeps all the way to the right!

It has to be loosing main power somewhere, are the battery terminals and ends at the starter relay in good shape? If it was just the starter then all of the vehicle cabs power shouldn't be affected by turning on the switch. The starter is attached but is a separate circuit.

As far as I know, the terminals are in good shape with no corrosion visible by the battery and I am not sure of the terminals on the starter but I will look tomorrow! I had the similar problem last year and the shop that I took it to started switching relays and it seemed to work until this fall. My biggest fear is that the battery will drain and with the extreme cold we are expecting this weekend I will be in deep doo doo!

Dancing gauges and haunted door locks is a sign of a battery problem or electrical connection problem. Check the grounds on the vehicles. When batteries are low or proper current is not being supplied gauges tend to dance.

It could be a combination of the 2. Weak battery and starter dragging will cause it to draw more power than normal, draining ur battery, which will causes the door locks to trigger.

Updàte: Took to shop and had load tested and failed so had battery replaced! Funny because two other places had tested the battery and said it tested good?
