2003 F150 Cranks, but intermittently won’t start

Have a 2003 Ford F-150 with starting
problems. Truck will turn over but
intermittently will not start. Can’t seem to
identify a pattern. Once it starts it runs great
and may not have a problem for days. We
took it to a mechanic and he said there isn’t
anything he could find wrong and says the
“key is going bad?”
