Too many steps to list. Your best bet is to buy an original Ford shop manual if you intend on fixing yourself. It is a major pain and a lot of work. You basically have to take the top half of the engine off. Which usually means stripping everything off the top, dropping the manifolds, etc, etc. Your probably looking at a $2000 shop bill, more or less.

YOur best bet is to drop a reman engine in there for somewhere around 3 to 3500 bucks.
