I had to have the cylinder replaced on my truck after many years as it sometimes had a problem starting (no juice) and sometimes the key would not come out of the igntion easily. I had a locksmith do the job because the new key and cylinder had to be reprogrammed. When the locksmith arrived I told him of the problem, handing him the new cylinder and key. When I handed him my key ring with the ignition key he stated "here's your problem right here." Having a busines, my keyring looked like a set of jailers keys. He recommended not placing many keys on a ring with the ignition, as the key remains in the ignition during operation and with a heavy load of keys, it swings back and forth placing stress on the ignition key and the cylinder and pins inside the lock.
