Battery Seems Good; Gauges Don't Work; Headlights Do Work; Won't Start

I have a 2001 Ford F-150 with 230,000 miles.  It was running fine.  The battery indicator came on one day, and then the next day while I was driving it the truck hesitated a bit, and then all of the gauges went dead.  The truck continued to run, but when I got home and turned it off, it would not come back on.  Not even a click.  The headlamps work.  The power door locks work.  The mirror adjustment works.  Some interior lights work.  But no radio, no gauges at all.  I checked all of the fuses in the passenger compartment as well as under the hood and all seem to be well.  Any suggestions?  It's about ready to be donated to the Kidney Foundation but I'd like to get it running first.

The vehicle does have a BCM ? Does it have a code? I would definitely inspect the battery, its voltage, the connections, then power feed to each area of power distribution. divide there in the schematic and inspect the connectors in the areas that went dead. You can request schematics from several sources for free through the public library or ask your Ford dealer for help. Perhaps a look at their EVTM for that harness. That is easiest to read, understand and troubleshoot from.

Fuse links often attached to the starter relay. it may be located by following the battery pos. cable to it. it may have a sight shield cover. The connection to the alternator is a good thing to inspect. power dist supply to the power dist. box also. When you have more info. you can tell the results of system prechecks.
