Why is it dying randomly?

Asked by K9Guy150 Oct 29, 2014 at 07:06 AM about the 1998 Ford F-150 XLT Stepside SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So recently I did a bunch of work to
my truck, mostly steering and
suspension along with new at fluid
and gasket, radiator flush and oil
change. Standard stuff. Well now that
it's running again I have noticed now
and then when in gear it won't go
over 1000 rpm and just die with a
check engine and battery light on.
Mostly does it in reverse and not all
the time. IDEAs?

Go to AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them read the code for free. No need to throw parts at it.
