grinding noise

Asked by Justin Dec 04, 2016 at 02:34 PM about the 1997 Ford F-150 XLT 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Ford F150 that makes a grinding
noise coming from the front left side when I take
right turns, also it has way more lean to it during
right turns as opposed to left turns. What could
this be?

I think you have bad wheel bearings in the left front. I would replace both sides if it were my truck.

As "full" suggested you may have a bad bearing. It's easy enough to check. Lift the wheel off the ground and try pulling the tire out (like you're changing it) then push it in, in a rapid motion. There should be no play. Also check your ball joints and suspension. If you have stabilizer bars, check the bushings. They tend to wear out and fall off.
