brakes lights wont go off

Pull your brake pedal back by hand and see if the lights go off. If they do, first check your brakes for wear. Then check the brake switch located on the brake pedal for a chaffed wire.

If the above does not work unplug the brake pedal switch. If they then go out its probably a bad switch.

My first guess would be a bad switch. The second guess is the switch on the brake peddle is out of adjustment and is not releasing when the peddle is all the way up. By checking the pads, it may show excessive wear which could lead one to believe the brakes are dragging and staying lightly engaged. Although not likely, is should be looked at if the first two don't fix it.
