What would cause a problem starting my 96 F-150 Ford P/UP

Asked by bobalouie Sep 05, 2015 at 07:13 PM about the 1996 Ford F-150 Eddie Bauer 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine turns over normally but doesn't start. In the owners manual it suggests checking the fuel pump shut off switch under the passenger side kick panel to see if it has been tripped. I checked this out and it had not tripped but was in the normal position. What else could you suggest to correct this problem?

Loosen the intake hose right at the throttle body and spray carburetor cleaner while someone is cranking with the gas pedal depress half way and please wear some protective goggles and spray just a bit to have the engine to make any type of detonation and if this is the case then your fuel pump is not doing its job.
