Been there and done that at the house. Lots of work on your back with the truck raised up with 2 x 6 blocks under the tires. A mechanic friend told me it all works better if you simply pull the bed. I believe it involves 4 bolts and unsnapping the wiring harness. But then you are talking about a way to lift it and move it out of the way or else getting several strong friends to help you. I have two of these old trucks in really great shape. After replacing the front tank and pump on the older one, when it came time to do tank/pump work on the newer one I took it to my local Ford dealer and got it back the next day. More expensive, yes?! But, alas, I have somehow turned into an old guy and I just surrendered on the 2nd one! Good luck, whatever you do, it will be worth it in the end.
