F150 starting problem

Asked by Walt May 03, 2019 at 03:55 PM about the 1992 Ford F-150 S 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 92 f150, that has been sitting a long time. I gave it a brief once
over, put in a new battery, and cranked. ait started right up. Skipping at first,
then settle down. I did some more things. next day, I started it and moved it
onto blacktop. I wanted to go underneath.I went to start it again, started
again, then it sounded to me as if it was flooding out. Throttle made no
difference, It stalled and has not started since. It appears to be trying to start,
but doesn't. It has plenty of spark, and either does not help  either. Help?

I looked at fuel pressure, 5.0L engine, about 40 psi, use a gage and check. Have you checked ignition timing? My info says 10 degrees btdc. Any applicable trouble codes? To much fuel or not enough kind of acts the same way.

If you haven't already, drain the fuel out of both tanks and replace with fresh gasoline and a shot of fuel system cleaner.
