where does the hose go

i have recently purchased a '90 model f150 from a loan office, noone knows anything about it and upon getting it home i attached a battery to it and had to jump out the sylenoid to start it. it ran fine just a little miss but through more inspection there is a hose on the radiator support that has been cut at both  
ends. it doesnt go to the transmission or a/c.... can anyone help me.

What diameter is the hose? If it is a small hose that runs along the radiator support it is likely an overflow return to the coolant reservoir from right below the radiator cap in the filler neck.
